Jones breaks PCL mark, talks about new record
Jeff Jones knew months ago that Sunday was going to be a big day for him. After all, it would be Senior Day, and the 6-foot-4, 185-pounder would be playing his final home game for Monsignor Bonner. But that turned out to be only part of the drama, as the future Cavalier entered Sunday's game against West Catholic needing 29 points to break the Philadelphia Catholic League's all-time scoring record. Mission accomplished.
Jones erupted for 36 points in a 79-64 win against West Catholic to break the record held by Reggie Jackson, who scored 1,895 points at Roman Catholic High School. The mark had stood since 1978.
