Wildcats hang on for victory
Arizona avoided a season-breaking upset Sunday night as it narrowly defeated Arizona State 61-58. The Sun Devils gave Arizona all it could handle all game long and despite myriad chances to seal the deal, were barely able to sneak by with a win.
Right after tip-off, the Wildcats jumped out to a 7-0 lead looked like they would run away with the game early. A Marcus Williams three-pointer later and a pair of Ivan Radenovic free throws and the lead rose to ten at 12-2 with 16:06 remaining in the first half.
After the quick start, Mustafa Shakur left the game for an early breather and Arizona looked like a totally different team committing turnover after turnover for a total of eight turnovers in the first eight minutes.
