Patterson thinking LOI 'get-out' clause
Spring signing day begins April 4 for high school seniors, but the most important senior in the minds of state of West Virginia basketball fans, Patrick Patterson, said Thursday that he likely will delay his decision later in what T.S. Eliot called "the cruelest month, breeding lilacs out of dead ground."
The Huntington High product, whose top-rated Highlander team goes after its third straight Class 3A championship, next plays on Wednesday night, 7:15, at the Charleston Civic Center against the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears.
A victory in this season's state tournament would mark the third for Patterson, Rivals' 15th overall prospect, and the best one who has yet to sign with a college team.
Patterson noted also that it would be the third straight for USC-bound teammate O.J. Mayo, whose first two came at a small public school in Ohio.
