Vallone prepares for UConn trip
In the process of deciding schools he hopes to play for in college, Central Islip (N.Y.) St. Anthony's defensive tackle Scott Vallone said he hopes to find the right balance of academics, an athletic atmosphere and trust with the coaching staff.
That's why Vallone will likely make the trip up to UConn Saturday for the Huskies' annual Junior Day and check out what he's heard are the finest football facilities in the country.
In total, the 6-foot-3, 260-pound lineman has received offers from 13 schools, including requests from Big East foes Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Rutgers and regional competitors Boston College, Maryland and Virginia. He has made visits to most of the schools given their proximity to his home.
