Signee Profile: Chaz Ramsey bulking up
Madison (Miss.) Central OL Chaz Ramsey has been hitting the weights hard, adding even more size and strength to his frame.
AuburnSports.com spoke with Ramsey in detail about his workouts, his recruitment, his reasons for choosing Auburn, his plans to report to the Plains in a few weeks and more in the 10th profile story of the 2007 Tiger signees.
On his workout regime:
Coach Yox sent us a book way back in February after we signed. I've just been trying to stick to that as much as I can, doing it to a tee. They said if I do that I'll be ready for what they've got for us when I get over there.
How big is the book?
It's a packet that shows us how to do every drill. It tells you how many reps of everything you do. It's five days a week.
What are some of the specifics exercises you do?
There's eight to nine different exercises in each workout plus our running. We do a bunch of power cleans, squats, leg curls. Coach Yox is big on having string legs so we do a lot of lower body work. We do some light running before we lift weights on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and we do our heavy running on Tuesday and Thursday.
Are you doing the workouts by yourself?
I've been working out with Paul Lacoste he was an All-American linebacker at Mississippi State and Scott Westerfield. He was a kicker and won that snow bowl game for MSU, I think it was back in 2002. Paul owns a business here, Next Level Sports, and I'm one of his employees. After we get done working, we do our workout together. It's good because he pushes me and I push him.
