King is Ready
Georgia commitment Tavarres King just dropped out of the Rivals100 when it was updated, but he showed why he was once in that group last Friday. Habersham Central beat Gainesville as the teams prepared for the fall and King had a huge game. He only played one half, but the numbers he put up look like totals after 3 games.
"I feel we played pretty good," said King about Habersham Central's performance against the Red Elephants of Gainesville. "It was like a dress rehersal for the regular season and we did well."
"We took it as a real game and we wanted to go in there and play well. You only get one of these before the season, so we took it as a real game."
Habersham Central went on to win the game as they shut out Gainesville 28-0. The team had a lot of success, but King had a night to remember. He had 7-receptions for 230-yards and 1-touchdown.
"I feel I played pretty well," he said. "I had a little fatigue like I expected, but I think I did well overall. The guy that really stepped up was Shawn Scott. He had 3-touchdowns and he played great."
This was just a scrimmage, but Habersham Central could not have asked for a better way to begin their season. They went to the second round of the play-offs last year before losing to the eventual State Champion Northside Warner Robins team.
King hopes to lead the Raiders farther this year.
