Game Notes: UA offense clicks against NAU
Josh Gershon
GOAZCATS.com The UA looked like a much better team on Saturday in its 45-24 victory over NAU at Arizona Stadium. Here's our notebook on everything surrounding the UA's win.
On defense, Johnathan Turner and Louis Holmes got the start at defensive end. Corey Hall started at nickelback.
Colin Baxter was listed on the depth chart as the backup center but got the start at left guard and ran with the first-team offense throughout the game.
Antoine Cason had a rare 41-yard field goal return on the 1st quarter after the 57-yard field goal attempt by NAU kicker Robbie Dehave fell way short and into Cason's hands.
It didn't take Cason long to get his first touchdown as a punt returner. The senior, in his second career punt return, had a 70-yard return for a TD in the second quarter to put the UA up 14-0.
"That was the biggest play of the day," UA head coach Mike Stoops said. "He showed explosiveness and some nice moves. I hope now people won't question his quickness."
"It was fun to get the first one," Cason said. "It was great."
