Roland anxious to take on Texas
Justin Roland can't accelerate time. But the inside linebacker certainly wishes he could. After three games, Kansas State coach Ron Prince on Monday said the Wildcats will spend their bye week by addressing issues and planning ahead for their Big 12 schedule. Also on the K-State agenda: Starting preparations for Texas on Sept. 29. However, Roland wouldn't mind traveling to face the Longhorns on Saturday.
"You always want time to prepare," said Roland, a team captain. "Going to Texas, I think they're really vulnerable right now. I wouldn't really mind playing them this week because I don't think they're playing very good football. Having a week in advance to prepare will help us out and give our coordinators more time to make a good gameplan."
K-State, 2-1, comes off a 61-10 throttling of FCS-member Missouri State. Texas, ranked No. 7 in this week's poll by The Associated Press, hung on for a 35-32 win at Central Florida over the weekend to remain a perfect 3-0, and faces winless Rice on Saturday.
Eight or fewer points decided two of the Longhorn's three victories.
