The Series:
It's a Homecoming affair on Saturday when Kent State hosts Miami in the 55th meeting between these conference rivals. The RedHawks own a dominating 43-11 edge since 1942. The Golden Flashes have beaten the RedHawks just twice since 1989. Miami has outscored Kent State by an average score of 27-12.

Though the Golden Flashes scored a 16-14 victory in Oxford last season, the Golden Flashes haven't beaten Miami in consecutive seasons since winning three straight from 1986-1988.

The Golden Flashes are 6-20 against Miami at Dix Stadium and 0-3 against the RedHawks in Homecoming games.

Last Meeting:
Last season, Kent State scored 16 straight points and held on to win, 16-14, in Oxford. That victory was the first of five straight wins for the Golden Flashes. Miami finished the season at 2-10, their worst record since 1988.

In the victory, Kent State quarterback Julian Edelman completed 14 of 22 passes for 244 yards including a 16-yard scoring strike to Najah Pruden. Edelman added 61 rushing yards and a touchdown and Eugene Jarvis carried 12 times for 63 yards in the win. Nate Reed booted a 30-yard field goal.

Miami quarterback Mike Kokal completed 20 of 35 passes for 167 yards and rushed for a touchdown and Brandon Murphy ran for 92 yards and a score.
