Injury U. getting healthy
Injury U. is getting healthy. And it's not just John David Booty.
The offensive line - in such shambles nine days ago that USC said it would move defensive end Gerald Washington there for Notre Dame - could be reaching full strength much sooner than expected.
All-American left tackle Sam Baker (hamstring) worked extensively in Wednesday's practice, after struggling through minimal reps Tuesday. Right guard Chilo Rachal - who slammed down his helmet in disgust Tuesday, feeling frustrated with the lack of progress in his injured leg - returned to take a good portion of the reps against the scout-team defense.
"I'm a little bit surprised that they were able to get that much work today," coach Pete Carroll said, noting that doctors are concerned with how Baker's strained hamstring will respond Thursday. "I guess we have to reserve judgment. But, as of today, they would have played in the game."
