King for a day
When Penn State played the No. 1-ranked Ohio State two Saturdays ago, the Nittany Lions allowed completion after completion to the Buckeyes.
Penn State cornerbacks Justin King and Lydell Sargeant lined up 10-yards off the line of scrimmage, essentially conceding the short pass, even in third-and-short situations.
For many fans, witnessing the employed strategy was maddening, to say the least.
Yet, in the days following the game, King, the former No. 1-rated cornerback coming out of high school, took the brunt of the criticism for the performance of the secondary.
After Saturday's game against Purdue, Lions' defensive coordinator Tom Bradley said the problems were on his end, not his players'.
