Williams was bright spot in tough season
Syracuse lost ... again, for the 10th time this season on Saturday to Cincinnati. And yes, it was by a large margin ... again.
And of course, as with any loss in which a team gives up 52 points and loses at home, there were plenty of things the Orange did wrong.
But on senior night in the Dome, it was a sophomore who shined the brightest, providing at least one reason to hope that things will be looking up for the Orange next season.
If Mike Williams finds himself numbered among some of the best receivers in the Big East next season, and maybe even in the country, his performance against Cincinnati in the Orange's final game of the 2007 season could very well be remembered as his coming out party.
Williams caught nine passes for 160 yards and a touchdown catch that extended his streak of games with a score to nine, a school record.
Williams also took sole possession of third place on the Orange all-time single season list of touchdowns caught by a receiver (10).
