KU too much for RedHawks
A snow storm hit Lawrence, Kan., at about 9:00 a.m. Saturday, just three hours before the third-ranked Kansas Jayhawks (12-0, 0-0) and the Miami-Ohio Redhawks (6-5, 0-0) were set to do battle. After the first TV timeout, Kansas stormed to a 20-6 lead thanks to a 13-0 run led by Darnell Jackson and Darrell Arthur, who scored 14 points a piece and combined for 18 rebounds as the Jayhawks pulled away with the 78-54 victory, ending the Redhawks' streak 45 games without giving up 70 points. Kansas now sits at 12-0 on the year and can enjoy the next week off before Yale comes to town.
The game was supposed to be slow, grind it out, and ugly. That is the way Miami-Ohio likes to play. Using the entire shot clock to find the best possible shot was supposed to limit a Kansas team that loves to move the ball up and down the court with speed.
