Lester: New offense a RB's dream
The reaction to the new spread offense has been overwhelmingly positive from Auburn's offensive players, especially from a receiving corps that spent many a game blocking for running backs instead of catching TD passes.
But that doesn't mean the running backs will have to take a back seat in Tony Franklin's offense. In fact, his new system might make a star out of tailback Brad Lester.
Franklin has consistently named Lester as one of the standouts for the offense during bowl practices. With his quickness, acceleration and pass catching ability, Lester seems like a perfect fit in the spread.
"It's great," said Lester. "It gives me a lot of opportunities where I can get one-on-one with a lot of people.
"They use me out of the backfield and split me out at receiver some. They just use me everywhere. I like the opportunity and I'm looking forward to it."
