Owens following in big foot steps
From the moment the first story was written about Jameel Owens on Rivals.com nearly three years ago it was clear that he'd be a name to follow. However with all that has happened in Norman the past few days, particularly the departure of Malcolm Kelly, and Owens' display of his No. 4 Sooner jersey at last night's signing announcement it seems that he'll be following rather than being followed this time.
Following Kelly's legacy, and growing reputation the No. 4 carries with it with now Owens, Kelly, and Travis Wilson before him.
"It changed things a lot for me when Malcolm left. With him leaving hopefully I can get the No. 4 and plus if I work hard I have a better chance to play early," Owens said.
The initial comment of having his favorite number, along with the handling of his commitment ceremony, might leave some with a bad taste in their mouth about Rivals.com's No. 1 rated player in the Sooner state.
When you talk to Owens though it's clear that the decision was a tough one and he'll prove his maturity with hard work next summer and through his Sooner career.
