Hawkeyes making a late run at in-state LB

After waiting patiently throughout the recruiting process, all-state linebacker Jake Reisen has seen his stock steadily rise over the past month. The 6-foot-2, 206-pound Reisen, who attends Iowa City Regina, now has options at Iowa, Iowa State, and UNI.

Reisen, who led Regina to a 12-1 record last season, has already made an official visit to UNI and will tour Iowa this coming weekend. With the grayshirt option at Iowa and ISU, the linebacker would wait to enroll full-time until January 2009 at which time he would be on full scholarship.

The past couple of weeks, Reisen has had in-home visits from each of the three in-state schools, although he recently eliminated Iowa State. For the Hawkeyes, the lead recruiter has been Reese Morgan, who told the senior the coaching staff really likes his athleticism at linebacker.

Of course, Reisen is no stranger to the Iowa football program, not only growing up in Iowa City, but also playing at Regina where he was coached by a number of former Hawkeyes. Marv Cook, who was an All-American tight end at Iowa in the 80's, took over the Regina program a year ago and his staff includes former players Ed Hinkel, Mike Haight, and Jason Dumont.

Reisen, who earned all-district and all-area defensive player of the year honors in 2007, plans to make his college decision shortly.
