Ringer's advice sparks Anderson's big scrimmage
EAST LANSING - Like most young running backs, Michigan State red-shirt freshman Andre Anderson finds himself fighting the tendency to bounce the ball outside when the defensive line pinches the middle.
Anderson did bounce it outside a couple of times in Saturday's scrimmage. But the former Barrington (Ill.) High School standout made the biggest play of the day for the Spartan offense when he followed his blockers and turned in a 97-yard touchdown run.
"We have a really strong defensive line and some really speedy linebackers," said Anderson. "To get a real long run like that after banging it inside all and getting 3 and 4 and maybe 6 here or there it really felt good."
