Cyclones set the pace for Boffeli

For Conor Boffeli, the decisions are multiple. Not only does he need to decide which college he'll attend beginning in the fall of 2009, he also needs to decide which sport he'll choose to play at the next level. On the football side of things, Boffeli holds an offer from Iowa State and strong interest from a few other schools. And on the baseball side as well, he's being recruited by multiple Division I schools.

It's a thought process that will take some time, according to Boffeli.

"Right now I haven't really decided if I will play baseball or football," Boffeli. "My favorite of the two is really whichever one is in season. It's going to be hard for me to decide on which one. But that's the decision I have to make first."

Boffeli is a 6-foot-4, 245-pound prospect that is being looked at as a tight end. But there's also the possibility that he'll continue to grow and bulk up and eventually be better suited for offensive tackle and defensive end. "Iowa State is saying that, tight end right now but if I keep getting bigger, maybe defensive line or offensive line," said Boffeli.

The Cyclones were among several to send assistant coaches to visit Boffeli's West Des Moines (Iowa) Valley high school in recent weeks. Also calling on him at school were Kansas, Iowa and Wisconsin. He said he's also been getting a lot of mail from Louisville as well as the number of schools that like him as a baseball prospect. He'll get out on the road for more exposure this summer, as much as his prep baseball schedule will allow.
