Hawkeyes offer New England prospect
Blair Sanderson
HawkeyeReport.com While the Iowa Hawkeyes have recruited the East Coast for a number of years, it is not very often they dip into the state of Massachusetts. That could change this year, however, as the coaching staff has extended an early scholarship offer to fullback/linebacker Shane DiBona from Duxbury High School.
As a junior, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound DiBona rushed for 1,090 yards and 18 touchdowns as a running back despite missing three games due to a high ankle sprain. On defense, the two-star prospect, who also competes in baseball and track, had 38 tackles from his linebacker position. While Iowa projects him primarily at fullback, other schools such as Boston College and Connecticut are giving him a look on defense. Currently, DiBona is staying patient as he waits to see if other schools will offer, but he would like to wrap up his recruiting before the end of summer.
