Video: Ringer credits guys up front for 201-yard game
EAST LANSING - After having a slow start against a good defense on the road in the first week of the season at Cal, Javon Ringer has been had three straight weeks of outstanding play.
Ringer followed up his 282-yard rushing performance against Florida Atlantic with a 201-yard showing against Notre Dame, which geared their defense to stop the run.
"First of all, put my vote in for Javon Ringer for Heisman Trophy," said Spartan defensive coordinator, who said in August that West Virginia quarterback back Pat White would get his Heisman vote if he had one. "I think he needs to start getting picked up a little bit because that guy's a machine. It's just amazing what he does out there."
Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis would probably agree with Narduzzi's assessment that Ringer is a machine.
"You can hit him and hit him and hit him and he just keeps coming," said Weis.
Always humble, Ringer gave his offensive line all of the credit for the his 201-yard rushing game.
"I can do nothing without these guys carrying the weight for me," said Ringer. "It was a great team win. We were very, very dominant up front on both sides of the ball."
Ringer moved into fifth all-time on Michigan State's rushing list with his performance against Notre Dame.
