Third downs still thorny to WVU

WVSports.com Third down discussion continued to consume West Virginia coach Bill Stewart on Monday's Big East Teleconference, but this time, the four-game-old head Mountaineer was looking askance at the offense after his defense could get seemingly nobody off of the field in the first two games. "The only thing I know is to get Owen Schmitt to leave the Seattle Seahawks and get Stevie Slaton to come back from the Houston team," Stewart said. Schmitt was the Mountaineers' run-blocking fullback through three years of unprecedented success and Slaton was one of the program's all-time leading ball-carriers. Both obviously are in the pros.
