After a couple weeks of big performances by Jacquizz Rodgers, Montlake belonged to older brother James who tallied two touchdowns on the ground and one through the air to finish the night with 163 total offensive yards and in addition to 53 punt return yards.
Lyle Moevao was efficient as the Beavers used many of their offensive weapons, including Ryan McCants, who picked up 29 yards on 6 carries. Shane Morales continues to impress with his crisp routes and great hands, while Sammie Strougter is still making big grabs.
All in all, it was a good effort by the offense, although not their strongest to date. The 21 point win still qualifies as largest margin of victory at Husky Stadium since 1973, when the Beavers beat the Huskies by 24 at Montlake.
Bottom line
it was a lunch bucket performance and a much needed road victory for the Beavers. And they were able to win without showing any wrinkles that they may need to pull out of their hat down the stretch.

No doubt, it was the James Rodgers show on Saturday. He showed off his 2 star (right Rivals?) speed on all three touchdown plays, burning Husky defenders for huge gainers and only being stopped by the end zone. Maybe it was the track around the field at Husky Stadium that brought back memories of his Lamar Consolidated days, or maybe he was just showing off for his former high school coach who was in attendance, but he showed repeatedly why he is a threat every time he touches the ball.
Of course, I'm sure he is giving huge props to Howard Croom who had a key block on the first long run, and Morales and Stroughter who did the same on the second long touchdown run. Often times, run blocking is overlooked and unappreciated, but I think the Beavers are really coming together as a group in that category and starting to do a great job there. The stats bear this out.
Lyle was extremely efficient with his passing and protected the ball. These are things that good quarterbacks must do, especially on the road.
