2010's Jones bouncing back
Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep always has a roster full of talent so injuries do not have the same impact on their performance as they do at some other places. When their talented junior athlete Tony Jones went down earlier in the season they were able to continue to play well. Now that he is back they should be that much better.
Jones, a 5-foot-8, 178-pound all-purpose back, found it difficult to watch his teammates play while he missed action for a big portion of the season. He is making his return now, and he's hoping to finish his junior season a strong note.
"We've been doing well," Jones said. "We just beat Bergen Catholic 38-7. I've improved some this year but it's been tough because I've been out. I was out for five games because I was diving for the end zone and a guy hit me on my side. When that happened I rolled to my left and I fell on my shoulder. The pad got stuck in my neck and it messed up my collarbone.
"I was playing in this last game, though. I was out five weeks but I just came back. They're kind of easing me in and trying to get me a little bit of action."
Jones has not had a chance to take any unofficial visits or attend any games this year, but that's something he would like to do in the near future.
"I've been hearing from Boston College, Miami, Virginia and some others," he continued. "Boston College did offer me, on September 1, I believe. I've been talking to them a little bit. They're mostly just sending me letters about how their games have been going and how their players have been doing. I would definitely like to take a visit up there."
Jones said he does not have any favorites at this point in the recruiting process. He plans on learning more about the schools recruiting him in the coming weeks so he can map out a plan of action.
Boston College is the only school to offer Jones thus far.
