DiBona talks about his decision

As we reported on Friday, Massachusetts fullback Shane DiBona has made a verbal commitment and is headed to play for the Iowa Hawkeyes next year. On Sunday, we caught up with the 6-foot-2, 220-pound DiBona to talk about his decision, his outstanding play on the field this season, plus a whole lot more.

Q: Going back to Thursday, what was the call like to Iowa telling them the news?

DiBona: I called them and we talked about the Penn State game and how that was a big game, and then we talked about my season. Then I said, "Hey Coach, I've got something to tell you," and said, "I'm coming to Iowa."

Q: Was that Coach O'Keefe?

DiBona: Yeah, I said that to Coach O'Keefe. He told me congratulations and sounded real excited about it.

Q: What went into making your decision right now?

DiBona: I just feel like Iowa is a good place to be. I like it and everybody in my family likes it. I feel like I have a good chance with the people out there to succeed. I just feel like I belong out there.
