Loubeau showcases promise in Padre
Texas A&M freshman forward David Loubeau hasn't been part of Aggie basketball for that long as he's just six games into his first season in College Station, but just putting on the jersey makes him a target for autograph seekers after A&M games even if the kids aren't sure who he is yet.
In South Padre Island after A&M 77-71 win over Kent State Saturday, all that changed as the autograph seekers outside the A&M locker room in the South Padre Convention Centre knew exactly who the 6-foot-9 freshman from Florida was after a 12-point, eight-rebound performance. And he was their No. 1 target for a signature.
It's something Loubeau will have to get used to if he continues to put together performances like the one he had Saturday.
"It feels real good. I've been signing autographs all year, but now it feels good to now to be known and coming along and step my game up," Loubeau said. "I just stepped up on the defensive end. That's basically been the weak part of my game so I've been working on it. I provided what my team needed."
