After defensive tackle Lei Talamaivao went down during the first game of the season with a broken leg, freshman end Derrick Shelby was called into service. Shelby not only moved over and met expectations, he exceeded them by finishing the season with 30 tackles and more importantly easing the pain of losing Talamaivao.
