3-star Fullback Semmes pulls a surprise and picks Miami (Oh)

GoBlackKnights.com When it comes to recruiting, the momentum can change quickly, especially when you are a prospect making one of the toughest decisions of your life.
Three-star fullback, Justin Semmes faced that challenge upon his return this weekend from his official visit to Miami (OH). Last night Semmes ended that decision when he committed to Miami (OH) and comes as a surprise to the Army fans, and surely the Black Knights' coaching staff. "I liked the atmosphere and players
it felt like they were a family and I really liked Coach Haywood," shared the 6-foot-2, 225 pound fullback when speaking of newly hired Miami Head Coach and former Notre Dame offensive coordinator.
Did Semmes have a chance to share his decision with Army Head Coach Rich Ellerson or any member of the coaching staff? "I called Coach Waugh and told him of my decision, which was tough to do," said Semmes who is out of Orchard Lake (MI) St. Mary's High School. "He said that he was very sorry that I would not be playing football for Army and attending West Point."
For Semmes who is the 13th ranked fullback in the country by Rivals.com, this decision was a family decision and subsequent to his official visit to Miami, he sat down with his parents and brother, Jason, who is a freshman defensive end with the Iowa Hawkeyes.
There is no doubt that losing out on Semmes drops the recruiting class down a few notches, and the Black Knights' staff will have to work hard to get back up to speed, especially with the Black Knights still in need of a top-flight fullback.
