With only 3 projected quarterbacks on scholarship (Kirk Cousins, Keith Nichol and Andrew Maxwell), signing a top signal caller will be a priority for Mark Dantonio and his staff. One of the players they are very interested in for the class of 2010 is Joe Boisture who now attends Saline High School after transferring from Goodrich High School. Boisture already has multiple BCS offers on the table and Michigan State is taking a serious look at the 6-foot-6, 200-pound prospect. SpartanMag.com has the latest.

Boisture has had a busy last few weeks, several coaches have stopped into his high school and many more are in frequent contact with him. This week alone his new school will be getting visited by Wisconsin, Pittsburgh and Boston College. Michigan State has been very active in their recruitment of Boisture.

"The Michigan state Coaches have been to my school several times. Coach Barnett, Coach Warner and Coach Enos have all stopped into Goodrich High School. Coach Warner has talked about my tape and how much he likes me. I am going to Michigan state junior day on the 22nd (February)"

Boisture's early offer total is one of the most impressive in the Midwest. We asked him about that.

"I have scholarship offers from Pittsburgh, Boston College, Cincinnati and Wisconsin. Hopefully I can get one form Michigan State pretty soon too."

Many quarterbacks that have early offers have them due to either being dual-threat types that can play multiple positions or having made extensive camp rounds prior to their junior season. Boisture doesn't fall into either category, which makes his offers all the more impressive.

Most teams like to secure a quarterback commitment early in the recruiting process as it often helps to build the class around a player talented player. Boisture indicated that he is very open to that timetable

"I would like to make my decision before my senior year, that is the plan. However, it all depends on if I find the right fit."

Finding the right fit will likely involve talking trips to several of the schools that are his most active suitors. In addition to attending Michigan State's Junior Day, Boisture also hopes to check out the other schools that have already offered him. A trip to Boston was put on hold due to the coaching change, but the new Eagle staff has been back in touch and the family hopes to get out there soon.

This past fall Boisture helped lead Goodrich High School to one of their best records in school history, The Martians were undefeated n the regular season and ended up up 10-1. Boisture threw for 1,588 yards, 14 touchdown passes, and five interceptions.

When we spoke with Boisture he had just completed his first day at Saline High School. The transfer from Goodrich to Saline has made a lot of buzz around the state of Michigan. We asked Boisture about the move.

"I have a lot of good friends in Goodrich and I had really good relationships with the coaches and the community there. I am going to miss. It. My dad has business down in this area and I am looking forward to playing for Saline."

Saline High School is in a much higher classification than Goodrich. Saline is a Division 1 school (over 1700 students). Goodrich is a Division 4 school (over 700 students). Both schools are known for having solid football programs.

Boisture will certainly get the opportunity to throw the ball a lot more at Saline High School. The Hornets employ a lot of spread elements in the offense. The quarterback at Saline usually lines up use in shotgun formation with 4 and even 5 wide receiver sets.

One of Boisture's strengths, besides the fact that he is 6-foot-6 and has a strong arm, is his mechanics. Boisture has excellent mechanics both in the pocket and when he is rolling out. It is obvious that he has been coached well.

Much of that coaching can be attributed to his father who is a former quarterback at Bowling Green University.
Boisture does have some family ties to the Spartan program. His grandfather was on the Michigan State staff under Coach Duffy Daugherty back in the heyday of Spartan football. He then left to become the Head Coach at Eastern Michigan. Could it be a situation where Boisture is wearing the Green and White as the Spartans ascend back to the top of the college football world?
