2010 LB de-commits
Chula Vista (Cali.) Eastlake linebacker Tony Jefferson committed to Stanford in September of his junior year, a very early commitment even by today's standards. However, the 6-foot-0, 195-pounder has decided to open things up and get his name back on the recruiting market.
"I'm no longer committed to Stanford," said Jefferson. "This is primarily to protect myself being that Stanford is one of the toughest schools to get into. I don't want to shut out my other options. A lot of schools won't recruit a player they see is committed and I need all the options I can get."
Jefferson just received an offer from Notre Dame this week and also has offers from Florida, Oregon State, Fresno State and Arizona.
"I'm also being heavily recruited by Southern Cal, Purdue, Michigan, Utah, LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida State and many others," he said. "Stanford will always be under consideration as well, I really like the coaches and what they are doing there, but I need to make sure to keep my options open.
