RB visits AU, Tigers return favor
Wooddale four-star running back Jovon Robinson traveled from his hometown of Memphis, Tenn. to Auburn last weekend for an official visit.
Two days after leaving the Plains, a pair of Auburn coaches, including Gene Chizik, traveled to Memphis to visit Robinson.
Trooper Taylor, who is recruiting the running back to Auburn, and Chizik made an in-home visit with Robinson, his mother, brother and sister.
"It went real good, real good," said Robinson. "For me, it was just more confirmation that Auburn is the place for me. For my mother, it was a good chance for her to really sit down with them and just talk, get to know them better."
Robinson said the conversation between his mother and the coaches was very productive.
"She was very attentive to what they were saying and she learned a lot from it," said Robinson. "They laid what Auburn had to offer on the table for her. She got a good perspective of what I would be doing and what their plan is for me over the next four years.
"Everything went good. Coach Chizik even asked about what I was like when I was younger and stuff like that. It was fun. We all had a good time."
After Chizik and Taylor left, Robinson said his mother talked to him about how she was impressed with both coaches, and how she was more comfortable with his decision.
"She really liked 'Troop', and she really like Coach Chizik as well," he said. "She talked about how Coach Chizik and her related on a lot of issues, a lot of things they talked about, and how they felt the same way about. She knows I'm going to gain a lot by going to Auburn and that it's a good fit for me.
"She knows why I'm comfortable with my decision because she was comfortable with the coaches and all that they talked about."
Robinson's comfort level with his decision grew after the in-home visit from Auburn, but it was his visit to the Plains over the weekend that eliminated any doubts.
Robinson was one of nine recruits in Auburn on official visits....
