UCLA building bonds with Everson
The state of Michigan has seen a lot more early season attention from the Bruin coaching staff in the class of 2007 in part because of the talent there this year and in part because of the connection with new assistant coach Chuck Bullogh. An assistant at Western Michigan University before coming to Westwood, Bullough has the Bruins on the forefront of Midwest talents like Detroit Mumford athlete Cedric Everson.
The 6-0, 170-pound Everson has the ability to play either wide receiver or cornerback at the next level and possesses legit 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash and has run a 10.5 100 meters. He reports dozens of offers, including one from UCLA that came through about a month ago.
This past week, Everson took a trip to Florida State and Georgia Tech. He came back with the Yellow Jackets topping his list, but plans to take more trips before making a decision, including one to the West Coast this summer.
Everson said that some of the UCLA coaches were supposed to be in town in the next two weeks to see him participate in a track meet. Conversations with the coaches is the closest he has been to Los Angeles, but he does know quite a bit about the school and looks to have a connection that should be made soon there.
In his junior season, Everson earned honorable mention all-state accolades after recording 55 tackles and seven interceptions.
