In-state wide receiver excels at Auburn camp
One of the more intriguing prospects at Auburn's camp this past weekend was Birmingham, Ala., Tarrant wide receiver Marquis Maze. What the 5-foot-8, 160-pounder lacks in size, he makes up for in speed and explosiveness.
"The camp went real well," said Maze. "I liked everything about Auburn. I did real well in the 1-on-1's. I didn't drop but one pass. My best time in the 40 was a 4.45. That time was a little disappointing because I usually run a 4.37."
Maze, who also registered a 32-inch vertical leap, worked under Auburn assistant coach Greg Knox.
"Coach Knox coached me up real well," said Maze. "He taught me how to get loose at the line and to just be comfortable."
Saturday marked Maze's second trip to Auburn. He attended a Junior Day earlier this spring.
"Auburn's facilities are real nice," he said. "It's one of the best schools I've seen so far."
