Video: King lit it up last week
Nobody knew what to expect from either team last Friday when Habersham Central traveled to Gainesville for there one scrimmage before the regular season began. Nobody knew what to expect from the team, but they knew to expect from wide receiver Tavarres King.
King just dropped out of the Rivals100, but he made his case Friday night that he belonged in that elite group. He put up amazing numbers and made big time plays in the just the first half.
He showed hands, he showed speed, he showed athleticism, he showed he is willing to block, he showed balance and he showed he is a prime time player that is ready to have a stellar senior year.
The starters only played one series into the third quarter for each team, but King did all his damage in the first half. He caught two balls on the first series leading the Raiders to a score, then he set the key block springing his outside receiver for the second touchdown. The third score belonged to "T.K." where he used his speed to get behind the defense and he caught a 74-yard touchdown.
That was nice, but that wasn't his biggest highlight of the night. On a last minute drive before the half, King caught a short out route and as soon as he caught the ball, he felt the defender on his right, so he immediately spun back to the inside and took it down to the one on a 30 plus yard reception.
King showed hard work paid off and one of the Gainesville coaches said after that game," we are not going see another guy like him. I saw immediately that he is already better than he was last year and he was great then."
"He has the speed and that spin move was ridiculous. He is the best receiver in Georgia for sure."
We were at the game covering King and many other prospects involved in this scrimmage and we have cut up these clips for you to see yourself just how impressive this 4-star receiver was.
You don't want to miss this.
