The Recruiting Corner: the 9/29 Visitors
The Oregon Ducks had their first big recruiting weekend last week when the faced the California Golden Bears in a showdown between then unbeaten teams. The Ducks brought in five recruits, cornerbacks Robert Golden and Kenjon Barner, wide receiver Marvin Jones, offensive lineman Max Tuioti-Mariner, and linebacker Dewitt Stuckey. The Ducks lost the game, but that didn't seem to matter much to their visitors.
Four of those visitors have been interviewed since their visit, and to a man, they gave the visit and the experience rave reviews. Barner told DSA's Sean Stevens "It was a pretty impressive trip. I was impressed, I'm not going to lie and say I wasn't. It's looking good (for Oregon), but I still have some other visits I'm going to take. It's possible that I could feel the same way about another school, so I can't really just go off of one visit."
Tuioti-Mariner and Jones had similar reactions. Tuioti-Mariner told Student Sports' Greg Biggins, "Oregon set the bar pretty high though. It's tough to imagine me having a better visit or finding a better fit for me but I have to take these visits and see for myself first hand." Jones told Biggins, "At this point, I'm really in to Oregon a lot and plan to make my decision a week after my visit to Cal (Oct. 12). I'm not taking any other trips and I'm not looking at anyone else right now. Cal has their work cut out because Oregon was such a good visit but I'm definitely looking forward to that last trip."
