ISU visit is a thriller for Tiller
It's all over but the signing for San Antonio (Tex.) Lee three-star quarterback Jerome Tiller. Verbally committed to Iowa State since late August, Tiller made his first actual trip to ISU this past weekend on an official visit. And the Cyclone program passed Tiller's test once again, removing virtually all question about whether he'll sign with Iowa State in February.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound dual threat QB encountered some travel problems in an already very tight time frame for getting to Iowa State for a before noon kick off game with Oklahoma on Saturday. "Unfortunately I didn't get to the game until part way through the first quarter, it was right after Iowa State scored its touchdown, in fact," Tiller said. "I was supposed to be there on Friday night."
Tiller is ranked as the no. 20 dual threat quarterback in the country by Rivals.com in addition to being the no. 93 prospect in the state of Texas. He collected a long list of scholarship offers and narrowed his favorites list down to three - Iowa State, Purdue and Minnesota - before committing to the Cyclones as summer was winding down. Other offers came from the likes of Kansas, Texas A&M, Stanford, Illinois, Rice and Air Force.
