Skyline 2010 receiver stepping up on the field
Last year, Skyline wide receiver Mike Davis did just about everything a wideout would want to do in his first year on the Red Raiders varsity.
District title? Check. Deep run into the playoffs? Check. Starting role? Check.
Catch a lot of passes? Well, Davis caught a lot of passes for the system Skyline ran last season. The junior-to-be wound up with 23 receptions for 469 yards (a 20.4-yard average) which led Skyline in both categories. However, the Raiders featured quarterback Troy Stoudamire and running back James White in the running game, and as a result Skyline wound up running the ball far more often than it threw it.
However, Stoudamire is now gone and Skyline has two talented quarterbacks in junior Javiar Hall and senior Chris Frazier, a bevy of returning receivers and an experienced offensive line.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Davis is gaining interest from Texas A&M, Texas, Arizona, Auburn, Kansas State, TCU, Alabama and Minnesota.
