Medical hardship for Goodman?
When Richard Goodman went down with a broken ankle in the Duke game late last season, Florida State offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher said repeatedly that it was a bigger blow than many might have suspected.
Not just because Goodman was finally breaking through on the college level - he had a career-high 11 catches against Duke before his injury - but because the junior was one of the best leaders on the Seminoles' offense. Fisher said that the Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas product played and practiced with such fierce passion that it rubbed off on all of his teammates.
That determination was one of the reasons Fisher and receivers coach Lawrence Dawsey placed Goodman in the starting lineup six times in eight games last season. But it also might be what is causing his injured right ankle to take longer than expected to heal.
