December 18, 2009ESPN's NFL Draft guru Mel Kiper has a number of Wolverines in his listings for next spring's talent restock by pro football teams. Kiper includes several juniors on his list as well, including cornerback Donovan Warren, who has acknowledged he's checking out a possible entry into the draft.
Warren is the No. 2-rated junior among college cornerbacks, in Kiper's estimation. Meanwhile, a pair of Michigan juniors that no one has associated with the draft also drew a ranking. Redshirt junior guard Steve Schilling is the No. 4 performer in his class at the position, while redshirt junior Obi Ezeh is the No. 5 inside linebacker among those with a year of eligibility remaining.
Michigan's All-American seniors, meanwhile, are at the top of the list in terms of their draft status at their positions. Defensive end Brandon Graham and punter Zoltan Mesko are the best available at each spot, according to Kiper.
Meanwhile, former Wolverine Corwin Brown will not be coaching at Notre Dame under new boss Brian Kelly. Brown has been mentioned in connection with the head-coaching job at Buffalo, with a source telling the Chicago Tribune that Brown was going to interview for the position today.
Another former U-M player and coach, Scot Loeffler, might get a look at the vacated Central Michigan University position. Loeffler, who finished up with Michigan when Lloyd Carr retired following the 2007 season, coached this past season under Urban Meyer at Florida.
