February 14, 2012Josh Morris had a big-time junior season at running back and has proven time and again he could be an asset on offense.
The Providence (R.I.) La Salle Academy running back is still hearing from teams that he could play cornerback - and he's willing to do it - but Morris would prefer to play offense.
During a recent junior day visit to Boston College, Morris had a great time talking to the coaching staff and it looks like the Eagles will at least consider him on the offensive side of the ball.
Morris, a 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect, will be back for Boston College's summer camp and he hopes to further prove his abilities there.
"They haven't specified yet so pretty much every school is recruiting me as an athlete," Morris said.
"Most schools are going to find out what they need and what's out there, what position they need basically. I can play both. I know Northwestern wants me as a scat back, slot receiver.
"When I went out to BC I talked with the receivers coach so I think that's where they want me. I could play defense but I think most schools are looking at me to play offense right now. I definitely like the ball in my hands. I like to be a playmaker so I'd like to play offense."
Morris rushed for 1,377 yards and 16 touchdowns on 155 carries in his junior season for an average of almost nine yards per attempt. There are some family connections at Boston College so Morris is excited to return for summer camp. He hopes to earn an offer there.
Other than the Eagles, he's mainly hearing from Northwestern, Connecticut and Rutgers so far.
"My mom went to school there and I camped their previously but I haven't really seen the campus," Morris said.
"When I got there I got a campus tour and I got to see what it would be like to play there. I really like the practice facility, the weight room is all new, so the facilities are definitely up to par. The academics are just unbelievable. It's a great school to graduate from and there are great people around you there."
