February 24, 2012Could Michigan be on the verge of another top 100 offensive line commitment? Wexford (Pa.) North Allegheny offensive tackle Patrick Kugler, Rivals.com's No. 54 prospect nationally, visited U-M and loved every part of his visit.
"Wow Michigan was something special!" he tweeted, adding, #feelslikehome #GoBlue.
Kugler has other visits to take, including one to Michigan State, but the Wolverines appear to be in good standing.
Kugler said earlier in the week he was pleased with how his recruitment was playing out. He was up to 25 offers as of mid-February, the most recent from Notre Dame, Florida, U-M, Washington and California.
"It's definitely an honor to get these offers. Going in, I didn't think I'd get recruited like this," he said. "It's definitely a very humbling experience and I'm trying to take it slow. I already have tried to narrow it down a bit and hopefully I'll make a decision before my senior year, I don't want to make coaches wait."
That timetable could speed up should he find the right fit.
Kugler earned all-conference, all-state and third team All-American honors as a junior.
"I thought overall I played a hell of a season," he said. "I was very disappointed with the ending. We lost in the semifinals. I really improved on defense a lot and had a good year overall on offense.
"I think the main thing that sticks out about me now is just the style I play. I go to the whistle. I know not many kids now are mean on the field and I play my last play every play. That really stands out to coaches."
