On Friday night, perennial powerhouse Seffner (Fla.) Armwood saw its season end in a 42-10 loss to Gainesville (Fla.) in the regional finals of the Florida high school state playoffs.
After the game, five-star safety Leon McQuay III reflected on the end of his time.
"I just had a good time playing here for my high school career," McQuay said of Armwood. "I'm sad to see it end like this, but it is what it is."
Now with the season over, the talented defensive back and his family will make another trip out West.
"USC is my next visit next week."
Florida State and USC are two schools currently searching for new defensive coordinators after Monte Kiffin resigned from USC and Mark Stoops left Tallahassee to take the head coaching job at Kentucky.
However, even with the coaching changes, McQuay doesn't plan to eliminate either school from his list of favorites.
"I don't think so for either of the schools. The school is still the school. I talked to Coach (Lawrence) Dawsey the other day (from FSU). It's all pretty much staying the same right now. I'm not making any big changes, my top five is my top five."
Since the contact period began, the 6-foot-2, 188-pounder had a few schools swing by to check in on him.
"Vanderbilt came by on Monday, Oregon was Wednesday I think, and USC stopped by Thursday," he said.
Michigan rounds out his top five and the Wolverines were in attendance for Friday's matchup between Gainesville and Armwood.
McQuay added he would announce his decision during the Under Armour All-American game from St. Petersburg, Fla. in January.
