Hoops: U-M offers James Blackmon, Jr., becomes a player
Michigan extended a scholarship offer to class of 2014 shooting guard James Blackmon Jr. following his Saturday visit and is now a potentially serious player in his recruitment. Blackmon, rivals.com's No. 33 player nationally and a former Indiana pledge, could return for an official visit. He said the Wolverines had become a serious option in his recruitment.
"I loved the coaches and the way they said I would fit in," Blackmon Jr. said after watching film with the staff and seeing campus. "I think I will be back on campus [for an official]."
Several surmised that Kentucky would move to the top of Blackmon's list after he visited, and he does like the Wildcats. However, sources in Indiana tell us Blackmon is wide open and serious about looking for the right fit. The 6-3 standout has also seen Louisville, Michigan State and Indiana and remains in contact with the Hoosiers' staff.
Michigan, though, seems to have made an impression following Saturday's visit.
Indiana, Oklahoma State, UConn, Florida, Kentucky, MSU, Florida State, Purdue, UCLA, and others have offered.
Four-stars Devin Booker of, Moss Point, Miss., Kameron Chatman of Portland (official visit next week) and Trevon Bluiett of Indianapolis are U-M's other offerees on the board, though the list is expanding.
Watch for more on Blackmon's visit in the near future ...
