September 6, 2013Michigan class of 2014 targets make up a good portion of the Rivals.com revised top 150, though some - like Indianapolis Park Tudor's Trevon Bluiett - have committed to other schools. Here's the latest on U-M's efforts with senior targets.
Starting with Indianapolis Park Tudor 6-6 small forward Trevon Bluiett.
Bluiett, a Rivals.com four-star (now No. 45 nationally) switched his official visit to UCLA from U-M for the weekend of Aug. 30 and pledged to the Bruins after returning home. We were never as confident as others that Bluiett would end up in Maize and Blue, putting the odds no better than 50-50 at their highest.
Another 2014 target and visitor, Ypsilanti's Jaylen Johnson (6-8, 210, No. 56) didn't receive a Michigan offer and didn't wait to see if he would. The Michigan coaches wanted to see if he was up to the task off the basketball court, too, but Johnson pledged to Louisville Sept. 6 before they could find out.
Some in Indiana believe he's wide open, giving Michigan a shot. Rivals.com's Eric Bossi believes Kentucky (where Blackmon's dad played) will still be tough to beat.
Blackmon seems to be Kentucky's bigger priority. If the Wildcats land Ulis, that could help Michigan's chances with Booker.
Cincinnati appears to be the biggest competition here. He'll visit them next week, and his AAU program has ties to the staff. It will be interesting to see if Michigan offers or takes a chance and waits to see if Grantham will hold off.
