U-M accepts Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl invitation
Michigan is heading to the desert.
The Wolverines will play Kansas State in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl in Tempe, Ariz. Dec. 28.
The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl is a sister-game to the Fiesta Bowl and is hosted at Arizona State's Sun Devil Stadium. The game will kickoff at 10:15 p.m. EST.
The Wolverines have not played in Tempe, Ariz. since the end of the 1985 season, when they rode a 9-1-1 record to a Fiesta Bowl berth, where they beat Nebraska, 27-23.
The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, which rotates on a yearly basis with the Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl for the fourth pick of Big Ten teams, selected Michigan over Nebraska this season.
After run to the Big 12 Championship and an invitation to the Fiesta Bowl last season, Kansas State is back in Tempe after a somewhat disappointing 2013 campaign.
The Wildcats, without Heisman Trophy finalist quarter Colin Klein, stumbled early this year, starting the season 2-4, including a season-opening 24-21 upset loss to North Dakota State.
Led by legendary coach Bill Snyder, Kansas State bounced back, winning five of its final six games.
Michigan, on the other hand, began the season 6-1 before a brutal November stretch in which it went 1-4, including losses to Michigan State (29-6), Nebraska (17-13), Iowa (24-21) and Ohio State (42-41).
Michigan and Kansas State have never met on the gridiron.
