Hoops Recruiting: 2014, 2015 updates
Michigan's class of 2015 offerees continue to put up big numbers. The U-M coaches have still only extended offers to three prospects, but several more remain on the radar. Here are some 2015 notes, along with updates on the 2014 signees.
Point guard Jalen Brunson, a junior point guard from Lincolnshire, Ill., Stevenson High School, helped lead a 66-51 win over Warren High School 66-51 Feb. 1. Brunson finished with 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Michigan and Michigan State are both considered strong for the 6-0 standout, and U-M has offered.
Jalen Coleman, four-star junior shooting guard at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Ind., had the week off. Coleman holds offers from Illinois, Arizona, Cincinnati, Indiana, Memphis, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Providence, Purdue, UCLA and Xavier. He and his team play at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at home against New Faith Christian Academy out of Ellenwood, Ga.
Franklin, Ohio five-star shooting gaurd Luke Kennard (6-5) scored 45 points in his team's 96-84 win over Taylor County in the King of the Bluegrass Showcase at Fairdale High School in Louisville over the weekend. Kentucky head coach John Calipari and Louisville assistant Kevin Keatts were in attendance.
Kennard also hauled in 14 rebounds in the win. He's still considered a Kentucky lean, though Michigan has made his list of six and will likely get a visit before he commits this summer.
In the 2014 class, big man pledge Ricky Doyle (6-9, three-star) and Fort Myers, Fla., Bishop Verot lost 73-46 to American Heritage Jan. 20. Doyle had 35 points in defeat.
"Anyone this that big and can move like he does is never easy," Heritage forward Drake Lamont told Sun-Sentinel.com. "He's one of the best players I've gone against in a long time."
Doyle notched 17 points and seven rebounds in a 47-43 loss to Community School of Naples Jan. 22, 24 points and 13 boards in a 56-49 loss at Dunbar Jan. 24, 27 points and 13 rebounds in a 61-43 win over Charlotte Jan. 27 and 30 points in a 57-55 loss to Fort Myers Jan. 28. He's averaging 25 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
Sacramento Capital Christian's D.J. Wilson was limited to eight points, all late, in an 86-60 loss to Bishop O'Dowd High Jan. 20. He scored 21 points in a 72-63 win over Mesa Verde Jan. 28 and is averaging 12.8 points per game.
Finally, four-star Kameron Chatman (6-7) of Portland, Ore., Columbia Christian scored 20 points and added 13 rebounds in a 64-57 loss to Issaquah Jan. 20.
