After 11 NIKE Camps and five EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Regional Workouts, the selection process for the 2005 EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Campetition has begun.

So far, six invitees to the 2005 EA SPORTS Elite 11 have been announced, with six more to come following the June 25th workout in Las Vegas.

Today marks the third edition of the EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Tracker Top 100, a list of the nation's top 100 quarterbacks plus weekly quarterback recruiting news.

EA SPORTS is proud to present the EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Tracker Top 100, a list of the nation's top 100 quarterbacks after camp and film evaluation. The list is a comprehensive and constantly changing list from the producers of the NIKE Camps and EA SPORTS Elite 11 QB Workouts.

Three quarterbacks made commitments this week to Division I schools, the most notably being Sherrod Harris, a 6-2, 206 pounder out of Arlington (Texas) Bowie, who who committed to Texas, and 6-1, 195 pound Alex Cate, who chose LSU over numerous other offers.

Harris committed on Saturday morning while in Austin for a mini-camp at Texas, choosing the Longhorns over offers from schools like Stanford, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, LSU, Georgia Tech, Colorado and a few others.

"It just felt like home all week while I was in Austin," Harris told Orangebloods.com.

"It felt like I was at my own house. Everyone down there just felt like family."

Harris was one of two commitments for the Longhorns this week, and Texas now has an amazing 21 commitment before the end of June. UT likely isn't done at the quarterback position either, as the Longhorns continue to push hard for Mitch Mustain out of Springdale (Ark.) and plan on taking two QBs in this year's class.

LSU also picked up a commitment from a hotly-pursued quarterback this past weekend, as Salt Lake City (Utah) Cottonwood's Alex Cate chose the Tigers after a recent week of travels during which he visited Nebraska, LSU, Arizona and Oklahoma State.

Sunday morning after the tour was completed, Cate called up LSU and told the coaches he wanted to be a Tiger.

Cate told TigerBait.com about why he chose LSU, "Of course the facilities and everything are great but I think mostly just talking with the coaches, the atmosphere and I got to watch film with Coach (Jimbo) Fisher and I just felt comfortable there."

A Class 5A all-state selection and a Student Sports Junior All-American a year ago, Cate led Cottonwood to the state title game, completing 196 of 379 passes for 3,437 yards with 40 touchdown passes.

He had drawn more than 25 offers and also was recently named the MVP of the 5A state baseball tournament. He'll attend the final EA SPORTS Elite 11 regional workout in Las Vegas on June 25th in hopes of qualifying for the 2005 EA SPORTS Elite 11 to be held in late July.

Perhaps the top quarterback prospect in the Hoosier State, 6-2, 209 pound Ben Chappell, also made his college selection this week, opting to stay home and play for the Indiana Hoosiers.

The Bloomington (Ind.) South prospect told Peegs.com & Inside Indiana, "This is a one of kind opportunity for me. I don't think there could be a better situation for me.

"The fact that I can play in the Big Ten in my hometown is incredible and I think it will be a great experience for me."

Chappell, who showed well at both the EA SPORTS Elite 11 workout in Atlanta and the NIKE Camp in Athens, threw for 1,925 yards and 25 touchdowns as a junior. He is also excited about the opportunity to work with new Hoosier head coach Terry Hoeppner, who was instrumental in developing Ben Roethlisberger at Miami-Ohio.

"I am real excited about working with Coach Hoeppner obviously," said Chappell. "He is an awesome guy that I love being around and his track record is stupendous. I think we are going to work real well together."

Below is the third EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback Tracker Top 100, which lists the nation's top 100 quarterbacks after tape and in-person evaluation. This list is subject to change and will be updated weekly throughout the summer and fall.
