April 19, 2006It's official: Patrick Beverley will not join the University of Michigan basketball program. The 6-2, 175-pounder, a combo guard who cracked the Rivals.com top 150 (No. 65) with a big senior season, announced his intentions at his school this afternoon.
Beverley seemed like a Michigan lock until he tripped to Arkansas this weekend, after which he became conflicted. He told several sources Fayetteville "felt like Chicago," adding it was much more than he expected.
As a result, the Razorbacks won out in the end. Beverley also enjoyed his trip to Ann Arbor in late March, during which he spent two days with Daniel Horton, but the glow from the visit evidently wore off.
U-M still has a chance to add a top 100 guard to join Grand Blanc 6-5 wing K'len Morris, Oak Hill Academy (Va.) 6-6 combo forward Anthony Wright and Detroit Pershing 6-8 forward DeShawn Sims in U-M's incoming class. Herndon (Va.) combo guard Scottie Reynolds, Rivals.com's No. 75 senior, has asked out of his letter of intent at Oklahoma and is reportedly interested in the Wolverines, one of his three finalists before he signed with the Sooners.
Watch for more on these developments in the hours and days to come
