May 1, 2006Durham (N.C.) Hillside wide receiver/athlete Greg Littlearrived in Athens, Ga., for the NIKE Camp over the weekend regarded as one of the top prospects in the nation. The 6-foot-3, 212-pound Little lived up to expectations with a strong performance on Saturday.
"I really enjoyed the competition," Little said after the workouts were over. "It's a lot of great players that were out there today. Georgia has some great facilities out here, so I really enjoyed that."
Despite a little slower than expected 40-time, Little was happy with his testing results.
"My vertical was 39.8, I did 29 reps (of 185 pounds) on the bench press, I ran the 40 in 4.68 seconds, and my short shuttle time was 4.25, so I did pretty good. I should have one of the best SPARQ ratings."
Little, who rushed for 1,166 yards on 116 carries and scored 26 touchdowns on the ground as a junior, has some busy months ahead of him.
"Right now, I'm trying to think of all of the schools that have offered me as the same. I'm putting them all in the same category. Once I have a chance to get around to see some of the schools in May and this summer, I'll narrow things down after that."
Little, who also caught 23 balls for 475 yards and four touchdowns through the air as a junior, has an idea of some of the schools he plans to visit.
"I know I want to visit Florida, Clemson, Michigan, Southern Cal, Penn State, Notre Dame, and South Carolina," he said. "I'm going to Clemson's NIKE Camp, and I'll visit South Carolina that same weekend, probably on my way back home."
Little has a clear idea of what he will base his decision on.
"Right now I'm just looking had at my relationship with the coaches, because I feel like you have to play for down to earth guys. I'm looking for early playing time and a good education."
Little is also looking for a great quarterback to play with and has spoken with several around the country.
"I talked to Jimmy Clausen last night, and I talked to Mike Paulus after he committed to North Carolina. I've also talked to guys like Ryan Mallett, Willy Korn and Peter Lalich."
While there are no current favorites, Little does have an idea of when he'll commit to his school of choice.
"It will probably be on October 6th at my homecoming game. That's still my plan."
