Cal commit Shane Vereen of Valencia (Calif.) High showed why he is one of the most talented backs in the state as he exploded for 359 yards and 6 touchdowns against Golden Valley on Friday night.

Valencia crushed Golden Valley, 58-7. Vareen's yardage and touchdown total was a career best.

At 1-5, Valencia had been off to its worst start since the school's first year of varsity football in 1995. No other Valencia team had started off worse than 1-2 until this season.

"It's a big relief to win," Vereen said. "Hopefully, this will get our spirits up and on track to where we need to be."

The 5-9, 170-pound, 4-star recruit--who runs the 100m in 10.6 and was a state finalist in that event--committed to Cal back in late August. He had offers from all of the Pac-10 schools.
