January 2, 2008SAN ANTONIO - With the recent suspensions that happened at Florida State over the month of December, no player is maybe more excited for the opportunity that's in front of him than Crawfordville (Fla.) Wakulla linebacker Nigel Bradham.
The 6-foot-2, 225 pound Bradham will enroll at FSU on Monday and begin working out with the Seminoles in spring practice.
Bradham said since several of the suspended players will also miss multiple games in 2008, it should really open the door for him to see playing time as a true freshman.
"Hopefully I'll get a good shot to play as a freshman," Bradham said. "They have a lot of guys that got suspended, so hopefully that will give me a good chance to play.
"A lot of those guys will be suspended for the first three games, so it should give me a good chance. I'm just going to take advantage of it and whatever happens, happens."
Growing up, Bradham always dreamed of playing at FSU, so the fact that his career in Tallahassee will start next week has him pretty excited.
"Florida State has always been my school growing up as a kid," Bradham said. "Florida State is just a great linebacker school and they produced guys like Ernie Simms and Derrick Brooks. It's just a great school for me and it felt like home."
Bradham said now he's just hoping to get the opportunity to prove himself in Saturday's U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
"It's a great honor being here," Bradham said. "Guys like Reggie Bush and Tim Tebow played in this game. A lot of NFL players and great college stars played in this game. This is a great chance for us to get some exposure by the media.
"I believe this game will be a little bit faster than Florida high school ball. I think I'll adjust after a few days of practice under my belt. I think it's going to be fun. It will be real intense playing against guys that will be playing college ball."
